Nurses Corner
Colorado state laws require all students attending public schools to have the proper immunizations and/or paperwork regarding these immunizations. Failure to complete immunizations can result in students being denied admission to school unless and until the process is completed according to state law.
Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap)
In Colorado, Tdap vaccine will be required for all 6th and 10th graders this school year, and in subsequent years, that schedule will include other grades. Please call your health care provider and make an appointment for this vaccine before the new school year begins. The school will need proof that your child has received this vaccination before entry into school for the current year. If you do not have a health care provider or are unable to afford this vaccination, please contact the Pueblo City County Health Department for assistance at 583-4300. All 7th grade students must show proof of a second MMR vaccination and three (3) Hepatitis B immunizations prior to being admitted into school. Any student not in compliance will have fourteen days to obtain their first immunization and provide a written plan to complete the series. Any parent wishing to exempt their child from immunization may sign a personal exemption available in the office.
