Classroom Items and Grades

Supplies

1 Three ring notebook binder as well as three dividers with label tabs at least 1" rings for keeping notes and journal entries. Labels: Notes, Journals, Warm-ups.

1 12 to 24 count colored pencil box for map colorings.

1 Package of 12 count #2 pencils or a mechanical pencil with a good supply of lead.

Paper to accomplish classwork and homework.

Suggested supplies but not required:  student scissors, 12" ruler, paper hole reinforcements, and a small box of Kleenex to be donated to the classroom.

Graded Items

Classwork and homework must be accomplished in complete sentences along with correct punctuation and spelling. It should be neat and legible. If work cannot be read, then it cannot be graded.  Warm-ups activities take place at the beginning of class. You will need to read the question on the board, copy it into your proper notebook section, and begin answering it. This process takes about 3-5 minutes from start to finish and is not time for socializing. Please use all class time to the best of your abilities. Cheating is not tolerated and will be dealt with by receiving a zero for that particular work.

Elements included in the grading system I use are as follows:

            1.  Class assignments and homework. -

                 05-50 points each

            2.  Quiz scores from lecture, notes, & assignments.

                  10-40 points each

            3.  Chapter or skills tests.  - 50-125 points each

    4.  Notebook for warm-ups, journals, & notes. -

         5% of total quarter points.

Internet Resource

The publishers of your new textbook have included extra benefits for students on their website.  The address is http://www.classzone.com . You will want to add this to favorites so you don't have to type it in every time. This will take you to a page where you will find the units of our textbook listed.  Click on any of the units and see the activities, pretests, quizzes, and games that will help you to practice the lessons we will be accomplishing in class.  It is a GREAT resource and it's free!

Restroom and Water Breaks

Students are allowed to leave the classroom only three times per semester for the purpose of water and restroom use.  You must ask permission first and then sign out on the pass sheet located at my desk area.  Please write the date and time that you leave.

Makeup Work Procedure

The responsibility of getting makeup work falls solely upon the student to obtain. Remember you must get makeup THE DAY you return to school and it must be turned in to me in accordance with district policy as far as the number of days for makeup matching the number of days you were absent.  There will be a makeup calendar posted in the front of the room.  Simply go to the calendar and find the day(s) you were absent and copy the lesson.  I ask that you come during the first 5 minutes of Literacy  or ChannelOne during Access Period so as not to disrupt class.  If any supplementary materials are needed such as a worksheet, they will be located nearby the calendar for you to pick up.  Thank you!
