PowerSchool Passwords

If you have already received your PowerSchool passwords and are checking your student's grades and attendance on-line, please be aware that the grades you see on-line could be different from the grades you see on printed three-week grade checks. Teachers may have entered grades after grade checks were printed. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

PowerSchool is a system that allows you to check your students grades and attendance on-line. We have had several days set aside to obtain your passwords. The next scheduled time to obtain your passwords will be October 24 and October 25 during parent/teacher conferences. If you are not able to attend, please call the office to make an appointment to obtain this password.

You (parent/guardian) must come into the office and present a picture ID to obtain the passwords, as we must be sure this information is kept confidential and secure. We cannot send passwords home with students, as the accounts cannot be changed if passwords are lost, stolen, or shared in any way. PowerSchool is a tool for your use, and is not intended to replace grade checks, report cards, or conferences with teachers. To check daily homework, please access each grade level's page on this website.

Recent School Vandalism

The Skyview community seeks your help in ending recent vandalism to Skyview Middle School. The school was "tagged" with profanity, the letters BTK, "Westside", and Joker in late summer. We need your help in putting this to an end. Any information can be reported to the Sheriff's Department, Skyview's office at 547-1175, or District 70 Administration office at 542-0220.

New Immunization Requirements

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Board of Health approved additional vaccine requirements for children in schools beginning in the 2007-2008 school year.

Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (Tdap) In Colorado, Tdap vaccine will be required for all 6th and 10th graders this upcoming school year, and in subsequent years, that schedule will include other grades. Please call your health care provider and make an appointment for this vaccine before the new school year begins. The school will need proof that your child has received this vaccination before entry into school for the year 2007-2008. If you do not have a health care provider or are unable to afford this vaccination, please contact the Pueblo City County Health Department for assistance at 583-4300.

If immunizations are against your religious or personal beliefs, you must sign the exemption on the reverse side of the Certificate of Immunization. If your child can not be immunized for medical reasons, a physician must sign the reverse side of the Certificate of Immunization.

School Times, Parent/Bus drop-off areas, Teacher Availability

Skyview begins school promptly at 7:40 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.  Students not participating in extracurricular activities are expected to leave the grounds by 3:15 p.m.  If your student will be late, please come into the office to sign your student in.  The office will decide whether the tardy is excused or unexcused.  If a student is absent, please call by 9:30 to let the office know the reason for the absence.  If there is not a call, the absence will be unexcused.

The parent drop off area is located directly in front of the school.  Please do not drive through the bus loop.  Once they arrive at school, students wait outside their grade level doors (except in inclement weather) to enter at 7:40.

Teachers are available after school most days from 2:45 to 3:15 for extra help.  If your child needs to stay after school, please make arrangements to pick them up no later than 3:15 p.m. Students need to make these arrangements with their teachers in advance.

School Schedule

At Skyview, there is an alternating block schedule.  Each day, students begin their day in Literacy from 7:45-8:50.  In this class, students are exposed to a variety of reading materials to help improve their literacy skills.  Each day, students end their day with Access Hour from 1:40-2:40.  The purpose of this class is to give students the opportunity to work on homework or other class projects with the guidance of a teacher.  Students have three other classes, two core classes and an elective, that alternate day to day as follows:

6th grade

8:50-10:15 Core Class (2 Navy or 5 Gold)

10:15-11:00 Core Class (3 Navy or 6 Gold)

11:00-11:35 Lunch

11:35-12:15 Core Class (3 Navy or 6 Gold)

12:15-1:40 Elective or PE

7th grade

8:50-10:15 Core Class (2 Navy or 5 Gold)

10:15-11:40 Elective or PE

12:20-12:55 Lunch

12:55-1:40 Core Class (4 Navy or 7 Gold)

Students ONLY need supplies for their Navy or Gold classes (plus electives and literacy) and their planner each day.  They do not need to carry supplies they don't need each day.
